A 9''x12'' oil painting created on location near Ajo, Arizona. I often hear people say things about how there isn't much to see in the desert. How brown and dead it appears. I don't blame these people because I felt the same way when I first started visiting it. The truth is, the desert has SO much life and and more you look, the more color you see. I have come to fall in love with the subtle greys of the entire color spectrum that you find in the desert. The warm purples and reds in the sands, the muted greens and oranges in the brush and the cool blues reflected in the shadows from a cloudless sky. I could spend my whole life painting the desert and never run out of scenes to paint.
